Article Cover

In 2026, the Gurgaon cost of living per month is about ₹45,000 to ₹64,000 for a single person renting a 1 BHK. A family of four renting a 2 BHK or 3 BHK needs about ₹1.45 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh a month. Rent and location explain most of that gap. Everyday costs like fuel, gas and milk are close to the rest of Delhi NCR.

The totals below combine two things. The first is Numbeo's crowd-sourced estimate of monthly costs without rent. The second is the rent range for each area from 2026 rent guides. Every unit price in this guide (electricity, water, fuel, gas, milk, metro fares) is listed with its source and date, so you can rebuild the budget for your own household.

How to read this table. "Other costs" is Numbeo's estimate for Gurgaon, updated on 2 October 2026. It is built from 1,045 price entries by 82 contributors over the past year. It is not an official survey. Its family figure assumes a comfortable urban lifestyle, so a careful household can spend less. Rent ranges come from the area table in the next section.

Rent in Gurgaon by Area

Rent is the single largest cost in Gurgaon, and it swings widely by sector. Published 2026 rent guides do not agree with each other, so the table shows the full range across them. Use it to shortlist areas, then check live listings before you decide.

Area1 BHK2 BHK3 BHK
DLF Phases 1 to 4₹18,000 to ₹28,000₹30,000 to ₹85,000₹55,000 to ₹1,10,000

New Gurgaon (Sectors 81 to 95)₹9,000 to ₹14,000₹14,000 to ₹45,000₹22,000 to ₹58,000
Palam ViharNot reported₹13,000 to ₹22,000₹20,000 to ₹34,000

For a city-wide view, Numbeo puts a 1 BHK at ₹30,275 a month near the city centre and ₹16,767 further out. A 3 BHK averages ₹89,063 near the centre and ₹46,786 outside it.

The wide ranges have a simple cause. A 2 BHK in an older builder-floor block and a 2 BHK in a new gated tower with a clubhouse sit in the same sector at very different rents. If you are weighing renting against buying, our guide to Dwarka Expressway property rates shows what the same homes cost to own.

Sector 36A on Dwarka Expressway also has newer launches by Max Estates, including Estate 360, Estate 361 and The Terraces. Our guide to Max Estates projects in Delhi NCR lists their RERA numbers and starting prices.

Utility Bills in Gurgaon

Electricity

Gurgaon homes get power from DHBVN. The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission kept tariffs unchanged for 2026-27, so the rates set on 1 April 2025 still apply.

Monthly useUnitsRate per unit
Homes using up to 100 units0 to 50₹2.20
Homes using up to 100 units51 to 100₹2.70
Homes using more than 100 units0 to 150₹2.95
Homes using more than 100 units151 to 300₹5.25
Homes using more than 100 units301 to 500₹6.45
Homes using more than 100 unitsAbove 500₹7.10

There is no fixed charge up to 300 units. Above that, a fixed charge of ₹50 per kW applies. A home using 300 units a month pays about ₹1,230 in energy charges before taxes and levies. Homes on prepaid smart meters get a 5% rebate.

Water

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram charges residential connections by volume. The 2026 rates are ₹3.04 per kilolitre up to 10 kl, ₹6.08 for 10 to 20 kl, ₹9.72 for 20 to 30 kl and ₹12.16 above 30 kl. A 5% increase is planned for 2027. In many gated societies, water is billed through the monthly maintenance charge instead.

Cooking Gas

A 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder costs ₹950.50 in Gurgaon as of October 2026. A family that uses one cylinder a month spends about ₹950 on cooking gas.

Society Maintenance

Maintenance is a large and often overlooked cost. One October 2026 guide puts typical Gurgaon charges at ₹1 to ₹2 per sq ft per month for builder floors, ₹2.50 to ₹4 for mid-range high-rises, ₹4 to ₹6 for premium societies and ₹8 to ₹12 for luxury towers on Golf Course Road. That guide does not name its data source, so treat these as indicative. On a 1,500 sq ft flat at ₹4 per sq ft, maintenance comes to ₹6,000 a month. Ask the landlord who pays it before you sign.

Transport and Fuel Costs

Delhi Metro fares were revised on 25 August 2025. The Yellow Line connects Gurgaon to Delhi, and Rapid Metro covers DLF Cyber City and Golf Course Road.

DistanceWeekday fareSunday and holiday fare
Up to 2 km₹11₹11
2 to 5 km₹21₹11
5 to 12 km₹32₹21
12 to 21 km₹43₹32
21 to 32 km₹54₹43
Above 32 km₹64₹54

Rapid Metro token fares are reported at ₹20 to ₹35. Check the current fare at the station, as we could not confirm it on an official page.

If you drive, fuel prices in Gurgaon on 12 October 2026 were:

  • CNG: ₹92.01 per kg (since 29 August 2026)
  • Petrol: ₹102.97 per litre
  • Diesel: ₹95.66 per litre

Food and Groceries

Mother Dairy raised milk prices across Delhi NCR from 14 May 2026. Full cream milk now costs ₹72 a litre and toned milk ₹60 a litre. A family that uses 1.5 litres of toned milk a day spends about ₹2,700 a month on milk alone.

Numbeo's "other costs" figure in the first table covers groceries, eating out and household items, so you don't need to add these separately.

School Fees and Domestic Help

School fees can change a family budget more than rent. For example, DPS Gurgaon Palam Vihar lists annual tuition of ₹2,05,000 on its FY 2027-28 fee page, plus a ₹35,000 admission fee and ₹25,000 caution money. That tuition works out to about ₹17,000 a month. Fees vary a lot between schools, so check each school's published fee page.

Domestic help is the other common addition. A Gurugram job platform listed full-day maid wages at ₹15,465 to ₹16,399 a month in March 2026. Part-time help for one or two tasks costs less.

How to Keep Your Gurgaon Budget in Check

  1. Pick the area before the flat. A 3 BHK on Sohna Road can cost less than half of one on Golf Course Road.
  2. Ask about maintenance per sq ft. At ₹8 to ₹12 per sq ft in luxury towers, a 1,500 sq ft flat pays ₹12,000 to ₹18,000 a month.
  3. Switch to a prepaid smart meter if DHBVN offers one, to get the 5% rebate.
  4. Use the metro on Sundays and holidays. Longer trips cost one slab less.
  5. Budget for school fees separately. Annual fees at established schools can exceed ₹2 lakh per child.
